Shubie Campground
NEW-bie Shubie DO!!

Long awaited and much anticipated upgrading and renovations to the Shubie Park Campground continue!

The first phase of a mulit-year renovation and upgrading program was completed in the Spring of 2004 with the replacement of the campground's entire water and electrical systems as well as the installation of sewer services to a limited number of sites. Upgrading work also included the development of a new reception building as well as renovations to washroom and laundry facilities.

Phase 2 of the program continued in 2005 with the development of a canteen and store in the reception building with high speed internet access and landscaping upgrades including card controlled access gates, the construction of additional gravel pads on selected sites, grading and sodding and planting of new trees and flower beds.

Also, as in other years, ongoing landscape improvements and replacement of picnic tables and fire pits. Plus Shubie is extremely excited about the arrival of the first Yurt to a campground in the province. Read below for more information!

YURT! YURT! YURT!!

Looking for a unique camping experience that the whole family can enjoy? Look no further than Shubie and book a stay in our brand new Yurt. With a history dating back thousands of years the yurt – a traditional dwelling of nomadic Asian peoples – has provided comfort and shelter to weary travelers.

While the yurt has ancient roots, Shubie’s new Yurt is made of the most modern materials utilizing advanced construction techniques. Beautiful Lodgepole Pine Rafters support a 5 foot diameter acrylic dome which opens for ventilation. The roof and the 7 foot tall Douglas Pine lattice walls are covered by heavy duty insulated vinyl creating a weather tight cozy enclosure. A Douglas Pine frame supports an insulated metal door and 2 windows integrated into the wall fabric ensure a bright interior with lots of fresh air. The structure is held together with aircraft quality stainless steel fittings.

Whether you stay for a single night or extend your stay to enjoy all the sights and experiences of the Halifax area you’ll love our yurt.”
